Illinois Black Men in Medicine Innovation Grant
The Action Collaborative for Black Men in Medicine (AC), a co-sponsored initiative of the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) and the National Medical Association (NMA) seeks to support the development of novel systems-based solutions focused on increasing the representation of Black men in medicine.
The AC, in partnership with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois Institute for Physician Diversity (IPD), is excited to announce the availability of innovation awards to support creative solutions to increase the representation and engagement of Black men in medicine. Institutions or organizations who are selected are responsible for the fiscal management and general oversight of the award. The organizations are fielding proposals for up to five grants at approximately $20,000 each.
The funding provided by this partnership is specifically allocated for projects that address systemic barriers which influence physician diversity and health equity in Illinois. The BMIM Innovation Awards aim to examine the root causes of underrepresentation, such as institutional structures, policies, and cultural conventions that impact the distribution of resources and opportunities.
