PRESENTATION TYPES Oral - Submissions will be evaluated for either a full-length or quickshot podium presentation. For full-length and quickshot presentations, manuscript submission to the Journal of Surgical Education is mandatory. In case your abstract is not chosen for a podium presentation, it will automatically be considered for an ePoster presentation. ePoster - Submissions will be considered for a non-podium presentation. Manuscript submission to the Journal of Surgical Education is encouraged though not required. |
Tools of the Trade- The Tools of the Trade session will showcase established interventions that have effectively addressed common or complex challenges faced by surgical program leadership and residents. Submissions should highlight tools and strategies backed by preliminary or final data demonstrating their impact. Papers selected for this session will compete for the Best Tools of the Trade Award, evaluated by the APDS Program Committee. The winner will receive award recognition and a $500 prize. This is an excellent opportunity to share your successful interventions and be recognized for your contributions to surgical education and program development. Authors of accepted submissions will be required to deliver a brief oral presentation and submit a manuscript about the tool to the Journal of Surgical Education. |

AWARDS APDS is proud to offer the Outstanding Trainee Award during Surgical Education Week. This award, judged by the APDS Program Committee, recognizes excellence in research and presentation skills by a trainee. The recipient will receive award recognition and a $500 award. If the presenter of an abstract will be a Fellow, Resident, or Medical Student at the time of Surgical Education Week, the submission will qualify for this award opportunity. Please indicate eligibility within your submission.
Additionally, selected papers submitted under the Tools of the Trade submission type will be eligible to compete for the Best Tools of the Trade Award. This award, also judged by the APDS Program Committee, recognizes impactful interventions in surgical education and includes both recognition and a $500 award.
APDS DUPLICATE SUBMISSION POLICY Abstracts will not be considered or allowed to present if they have been previously presented, published, or are currently submitted with pending decision on acceptance elsewhere in international or national meetings. All accepted presenters must also register as attendees for the APDS Annual Meeting and attend in-person, barring extenuating circumstances.
All submissions will undergo a blind peer-review process to ensure impartial evaluation and maintain the highest standards of quality and fairness. |
