Fellows Abstract, Poster and Presentation Information

There are several scientific sessions that include the active participation of each fellow.   They are:

  • Abstract submission: Each fellow is asked to submit a written abstract on a research project that he/she is working on in advance of the Fellows Forum.   Each abstract will be judged and scored by the AO SNA Research Committee. The fellows with the top 10 abstract scores will be notified and asked to present their abstract as a 7-minute podium presentation as part of the program.

The text of the abstract should be no longer than 3,500 character spaces including letters, space and punctuation marks. Images do not count but should be kept to a maximum of 2-3.   Please note whether it is considered basic science or clinical research.

The deadline for submitting the abstract is NO LATER than February 8th, 2023.

  • Poster submission:  Each fellow is asked to submit his/her research project as a paper poster.  Each poster will be judged and scored by the faculty and fellowship directors during the first day of the program.  The fellows with the top 10 posters will be asked to give a 7-minute presentation on their work during the Saturday morning session of the program.

If you do not have your poster ready and submitted by February 27th, then you will have to print at your own expense and bring it with you to the forum.

The abstracts and posters will be judged and scored based on the following criteria:

  • Scientific Merit
  • Clinic Merit
  • Quality and Content

At the conclusion of the forum, awards will be given for the top basic science and clinical abstract/podium presentations and the top poster/podium presentation.

X-Ray Conference:   We will have two fireside discussions at this event, which will provide an excellent opportunity for dialogue on real cases. Each fellow should bring at least two cases on a memory stick; 1 great success and 1 memorable failure.  This should result in an interactive and highly educational discussion.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Scarlet Oxenford at oxenford.scarlet@aona.org.

Thank you!
