Welcome to Police Chief Magazine
Articles should be original work, previously unpublished, and not simultaneously submitted to another publication. Previous publication includes posting on personal or organizational website. Authors hold the responsibility to notify Police Chief of any such circumstances when submitting content and for obtaining necessary permissions for any material previously published in full or in part.
Exceptions for content published outside of North America may be made at the editor’s discretion.
» Articles should clearly demonstrate practical relevance to law enforcement executives and provide them with information they can apply to their agencies and/or officers. Including lessons learned, recommendations, or similar information is strongly encouraged.
» Articles should be authored by professionals in the field or law enforcement officers. Articles by other authors will be considered, but those by law enforcement are preferred
» Articles should be 2,000 to 3,500 words. (Exceptions at editor’s discretion.)
» Articles must be fact-based and provide useful, applicable information for other law enforcement professionals. We do not accept op-eds or similar formats.
» Articles should be explanatory, rather than anecdotal—keep direct quotations to a minimum.
» Images and figures are encouraged, but not required. All images must be hi-res (300 dpi+) to be used in the print magazine.
» All articles submitted are considered for print and online publication and accepted articles are assigned to a particular medium (print or web) based on a variety of factors. Police Chief does not accept “print only” or “web only” submissions.
Please use these submission guidelines for reference.
